McAllen ISD is signing up teams to play golf, have fun and help kids along the way.

It is the fifth annual Superintendent’s Scholarship Golf Tournament Presented by Millennium Copier Systems and Supplies. The event will be Saturday, May 11 at Champion Lakes (formally Palmview) Golf Course in McAllen.

Proceeds from the tournament will go toward high school student scholarships.

“One of the great things about McAllen is the way the community comes together to help students,” McAllen ISD Superintendent Dr. René Gutiérrez said. “The money raised here will directly benefit students who seek an educational opportunity to better their lives.”

The district has partnered with the Stars Scholarship Fund and the McAllen Education Foundation.

The cost for each three-person team is $600. Various sponsorships are also available for businesses. The format will be a Florida Scramble using 50 percent of the team average handicap. It will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

There will also be food, prizes and plenty of fun. To learn more, log on to mcallenisd.org and click on the Golf Tournament banner or call the McAllen ISD Office of Marketing and Communications at 956-618-6023.
