Our Mission

The mission of the McAllen ISD Career Technical Education Department is to cultivate the potential in all students by integrating rigorous academic instruction and leadership development with relevant career-readiness skills that lead to high-wage, in-demand career, and post-secondary opportunities. 

Our Vision

McAllen ISD Career Technical Education students are equipped with 21st Century skills that prepare them academically, socially, and emotionally for a highly competitive global economy and are inspired to be lifelong learners that contribute to the workforce and community.

Our Focus

Career Technical Education, CTE is focused on providing academic and technical educational opportunities for students, including rigorous and relevant career preparation.  By affording students, Programs of Study students are equipped with 21st-century skills that prepare students for a highly competitive global economy.  CTE creates Programs of Study that empower students to secure high-wage, high-skilled employment and seek advanced education and training.  In addition, CTE Programs of Study:

  1. Increase students' options for professional Licenses and Certificates,

  2. Meet the needs of the current Labor Market, and

  3. Enhance College and Career readiness skills.

At McAllen ISD, the Career Technical Education unit provides:

  • Dual enrollment opportunities with post-secondary institutions

  • Thirty-two professional Licenses and Certifications student opportunities

  • Job shadowing and Wage Earning Internship opportunities

  • PREP – STC Employability Skills Certificate – Tenth Grade Course

  • Career and College Electronic System offered to all students K-12

  • Student participation opportunities regarding national student organizations - FTC, BPA, DECA, SKILLS USA, HOSA, FCCLA, and FFA.
