TCHATT Program
The Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC) was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children and adolescents.
In collaboration with UTRGV, School of Medicine, TCHATT provides telemedicine or telehealth programs to school districts to help identify and assess the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents and provide access to mental health services.

"Tropical Texas Behavioral Health values our partnership with the McAllen Independent School District and remains committed to the support of students and their families facing the challenges of mental health and substance use. Tropical’s mental health professionals are available on school campuses throughout the district, and our Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists can meet with students using telemedicine technology, eliminating the need for students to leave campus."

"Valley AIDS Council (VAC) advocates for the LGBTQ+ & Latinx population at the local, state and national level.
VAC is looking forward to collaborate with McAllen Independent School District for staff sensitivity trainings on LGBTQ+ population subject matters as well as other culturally relevant staff development trainings. VAC will provide appropriate resources for mental and physical wellness to enhance staff support for students."
